Ceramicist

Mel Ellero

Multidisciplinary artist Mel Ellero has exhibited in group and solo shows across a range of mediums. However, since 2006, she has predominately worked in hand-built and wheel thrown ceramics.

Her practice explores the traditional techniques of eastern and western culture, depicting the natural qualities of clay and the alchemy of the firing process.

Her work is informed by the diverse Australian landscape and the continuing narrative of journey, place and reflections. Working in series and repetition, allows the time to explore the subtle evolution of form. The functional ware she creates is an exploration and expression of the quiet beauty found in everyday utilitarian objects and the relationship we form with them
