Janine Browne

Janine Browne is a Fremantle artist and poet and Founder of The Black Dog Project.

Through the mediums of locally crafted books, street art and dry-point prints, Janine’s heartwarming art and stories explore the interrelating themes of developing a strong sense of self and place; the acceptance and value of difference; and the role of imaginary friends in our lives to alleviate loneliness and isolation.

The warm as toast books ooze with Janine’s absolute love and belief in the characters that ‘arrive on her page’ and the heart and soul she puts into creating beautiful paper places through which to share them. The collection also reflects her belief in the ability of books to become friend-like, keepsake objects – and recommends they be kept close as a constant power source for life and all its challenges.
