This is a small, spreading, and stout tree, reaching between 4 to 11 metres (13 to 36ft) in its native habitat. As the name implies, its flowers are reddish-pink or coral coloured and hang decoratively on reddish stems. It produces clusters of orange barrel-shaped buds with horned caps that are followed by a profusion of flowers between August and December. The flowers produce abundant nectar and pollen providing a good food source for wildlife. It mainly grows on hillsides around Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie in Western Australia.
