BJA Painting Baby Eggplants and Pears
Jane Beech
Jane has been drawing, painting, and experimenting with colour for most of her life. When she eventually discovered oil painting, it instantly became her favourite medium. In the past few years she has been painting a lot of still life. The genre invites observation at many levels for both the artist and the viewer. She likes that the still life painter is connected to a long and respected tradition of painting ones domestic world. Colour, light and shadow are key, and she likes to paint alla prima (wet-on-wet) when she can. She is influenced by many artists, in particular, Margaret Olley, Georgia Morandi and Wayne Thiebaud. Jane thoroughly enjoys painting and hopes to convey some of that enjoyment to her audience.
