Lives and works
Wardandi Noongar boodja (Bunbury)
Dionne Hooyberg is an artist and community arts worker currently living and working on Wardandi/Whadjuk boodja (Bunbury). Dionne is a graduate of Curtin University (Bachelor Fine Arts 2015, Hons 2016) and has exhibited with PICA, Geraldton & Bunbury Regional Art Galleries, Cool Change & Smart Casual.
Dionne’s work often responds to the material sensibilities of objects found as part of her daily walks. Delicately weaving these together to create new materials, surfaces and vessels, these works and their crafting are a therapeutic exercise in alleviating anxiety. Drawing from her professional occupation as a community arts worker, Dionne’s artistic practice uses daily making and the manipulation of flotsam to create mediations on how creativity and busy hands can contribute to a healthier mentality.
