Claire Townsend
Claire Townsend lives and works in the Perth Hills in Western Australia. She has been making and teaching jewellery for over 20 years, at University, TAFE and high school level. She loves experimenting with new techniques and materials, and finds she too is constantly learning.
Claire’s production work is often derived from her exhibition pieces, trying new techniques and designs and experimenting and developing new technical skills. Through jewellery forms, Claire aims to explore the dynamic exchange between dominant, complimentary and equal shapes and in that process construct a metaphor for intimacy and the influence that can have on one’s sense of self.
