Lives and works

Boorloo | Perth

Cherish Marrington is an artist and designer for theatre and film, and the founder of Chinoiserie Fine Art, established in 2019. Described as “Boorloo (Perth’s) rebellious dark kitchen for high quality giclée printing”, the studio is located within the unlikely yet centrally located building complex of a backpacker’s “resort”, decorated from ceiling to floor with sparkling oriental trinkets. Marrington graduated from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2013. Prior to her design studies she was a fine art graduate from the Central Institute of Technology (CIT) in Perth. She gained public recognition for her ink drawings, detailed, surrealistic inspection of ‘horror-erotica’ and the non-negotiable suffering of the human experience.
