Brett Barker

Brett Barker comes from a long line of artist. His family is made up of painters, potters and stained glass artisans and works by his great grandfather, grandfather and various uncles can be found in the collections of art galleries around Australia. Trained in Arts Education and specialising in painting, pottery and screen printing,  Brett teaches in secondary schools alongside his own practice. He has been designing and casting gold and silver jewellery in his Fremantle studio for over 20 years and describes the process as being similar to creating small sculptures and takes pride in his original designs and quality workmanship.

Some high profile commissions Brett Barker has received include: Cufflinks presented to His Royal Highness Prince Philip on his 90th birthday, gold cufflinks for Rio Tinto presented to the Chinese President Hu Jintao, pendants presented to the USA President Obamas daughters, the Coat of Arms of Australia cufflinks and lapel pins for the Prime Minister of Australia’s Department, native animal cufflinks for the Perth Mint and cufflinks for mining company Rio Tinto for corporate functions.
